iPhone Killers on the Street

3G iPhone will be in our palms two weeks from now. At this stage, many attractive handsets are set to hit the phone market, possibly to let us reconsider our decision to purchase the 3G iPhone. This move on the part of the phone manufacturers is an attempt to compete with the iPhone, no doubt. Many of the announced handsets are touchscreen phones and have unique features, ranging from cool camera to standard gaming features.

Some of the good contenders in the race will be HTC Diamond, BlackBerry 3G, new handset from Samsung, and Garmin. In Australia, all these new handsets will be available either before the coming of 3G iPhone or at the same time as the iPhone. For your information, I am disclosing the best features in some of the handsets.

  1. Sony Ericsson: F305 has a cool gaming feature almost similar to Nintendo Wii. The games are of course built in, don’t think of accessing Appstores to download games. C905 has high resolution (8.1 megapixel) camera. The camera will be as good as a digital camera. Is this going to be a camera or a phone? I hope I will be able to make phone calls if I happen to buy this phone.
  2. Samsung: U900 will be here next month and has 5 megapixel Camera with MP3 Player. Do we really need high resolution camera? Oh, this phone is also touch sensitive. Samsung Omnia will also be landing soon. This one also has five megapixel camera, and GPS, wireless internet access with 16GB storage capacity.
  3. Garmin: This GPS manufacturer is also set to join the competition with Nuvifone, which promise to give turn-by-turn direction along with a 3 megapixel camera.

Handset manufacturers might be thinking that what we all need on our handset are camera, GPS and touchscreen. Is it not multi function feature that we all expect of a good phone? Well I think we are still going to be hooked with the iPhone for good even if we hear all these news of releases and countless launches.
