3G iPhone is Flawless
Houston Apple Store had twice the number of people lined up for iPhone on Saturday and Sunday compared to that of Friday. Selling 1 million iPhones in 3 days is a technology stunt that shocked even our ever serious and practical chap Steve Jobs. And in many of the countries where the iPhone is launched, suppliers fear shortage of supply. Actually some countries are already in a soup for not meeting the demand of iPhones.
Now, do all these facts mean that people are simply crazy about ‘Apple’ so that they buy anything from this company even if the device is worthless? We are not too crazy to do that. The 3G version has rectified many of the shortcomings of the original iPhone. Do you think that the 3G iPhone you have purchased is a flawed gadget in the first place? Did anyone told you that it is a flawed device? Possibly not. Call quality is perfect with the 3G iPhone, the speakerphone is now loud enough to make or receive calls conveniently even in a noisy environment.
Dwight Silverman observed:
There’s one major flaw with the original iPhone that’s not been fixed: its virtual keyboard. The iPhone 3G still has an on-screen, rather than physical, keyboard quite another to live with it day to day. Will I find true love even with a flawed object of desire?
Can we call this as a flaw? I have used an iPhone for almost a year now. If I were to type on a physical keyboard, I’ll be annoyed in the first place and will take days for me to catch the ease. This is an instance of getting hooked to something and we cannot possibly judge things from what we feel. The way I feel good using the virtual keyboard cannot be forced on someone who had been using physical keyboard of RIM’s BlackBerry, BlackJack and the likes.
With the iPhone, touchscreen technology has gone through a big change. Many Smartphone companies are already copying what Apple has given to the iPhone. Unless your fingers are as large as those of some Cartoon characters like Shrek, Simpson, Flintstone, etc, you won’t have trouble typing either on a virtual keyboard or a physical keyboard. Seriously, we don’t expect the size of the keypad button on the laptop to be on our mobile devices. You can as well use a stylus if your fingers are too big for the virtual keyboard, no offense.
Why iPhone? It is not the design alone that won millions of fans, nor because of the well known name ‘Apple’ that the iPhone happens to be a hot handset, but it is rather because of user friendly experience with the device that people are ready sit under the sun for hours to get one for themselves.
