App Store, popular with developers
Steve Jobs expected to launch the App Store with 200 offerings, but he landed up with 500.
Through the App Store, iPhone users can add games, software, Web shortcuts to their devices. Facebook, MySpace,eBay, Bank of America and AOL are some of the heavyweight participants. The App Store has been timed to boost iPhone sales on friday.
Initially the price and speed of the iPhone will be the main attraction for customers, however applications will spur sales later on.
Tim Bajarin, analyst at Creative Strategies says, “The games are what you’d find on a computer, not on a phone. You’ll end up with PC-class applications that fit in your pocket.”
An application from Pandora enables you to customize and create your internet radio station.
25% of the apps will be free. Besides 90% of the ones which are for sale will cost $9.99 or lesser.
