iPhone 2.1 Firmware in Beta
We have been waiting for this day, the day our problems with iPhone 3G will suddenly be taken away. Apple has released a new and improved iPhone 2.1 SDK firmware in beta. Developers around the world have started working to fix the bugs of iPhone 2.0. The main focus of this release is to enhance the GPS feature according to a source. Finally, we are all going to get an accurate navigation app that shows the exact direction, speed or pace we are traveling.
Apart from giving a boost to GPS feature, this update will also fix other problems we all had been facing using the iPhone 3G. It is high time for developers to seriously consider developing Exchange email app too.
Developers for now are using dedicated devices for installing the OS 2.1 software which are locked for testing purpose. Devices used for this purpose cannot be restored to iPhone OS 2.0 and at present applications developed using OS 2.1 cannot be submitted to the App Store. This means, we are in for a totally new experience with OS 2.1.
We will see mass launch of 2.1 applications in September.
