iPhone keyboard beats Palm’s keyboard
One of the most controversial and distinctive features of the iPhone is its keyboard—a unique feature till some copycats emerged. The virtual touch screen keyboard, has drawn a lot of flak as well as some praise. However, in spite of the criticism, Apple has not changed the virtual keyboard to a physical one. They have retained the big screen, the trim look and feel and the virtual keyboard. In fact, Apple has gone a step further and added a new feature to the keyboard where you can change the QWERTY keyboard to a number of other languages.
This keyboard continues to draw attention. To analyze this issue, ismashphone recently conducted a survey where it compared the user-friendliness of the iPhone’s keyboard with the traditional computer as well as with two recent innovations -Palm Treo and Write pad. The survey is based on two parameters -how much time a user takes for a typing test on the four devices and how many errors come out of the test. The results highlight two features:
1. The traditional computer keyboard remains the most user-friendly by far.
2. Nevertheless, among the new innovations, iPhone’s virtual keyboard is faring the best. The iPhone keyboard users are able to type much faster and commit far fewer errors than the other two devices.
Apple also uses a highly efficient program to fix typing errors, and to predict the word being typed, which also helps you speed up.
So yes, it’s true that with the virtual keyboard you will initially experience some difficulties. However, once you get the hang of it, the keyboard is smooth, just as effective as the real keyboards, and lots more fun, with the multiple language option, and the wide screen it makes room for.
