Optus 3G iPhone Plan
After Telstra, we have this announcement from Optus about the price of 3G iPhone in Australia. Optus has come up with a more detail information of the types of services and the minutes of pricing. Subscribers can either opt for pre paid plan or any of the cap plans that suit their requirement.
The 8GB model will cost $729 and the 16GB model will cost $849 if you go for pre-paid plan. For cap plans Optus is offering from $30 to $100 per month and we have the choice to go for one or two years. Some of the interesting offers with Optus are
- Unlimited free web browsing for one month, for customers who sign up for two years contract before August.
- Free calls for post paid customers. (The free calls are dependent on the length and nature of contract and the model of the phone)
- The 8GB model is sort of free if we opt for the $80 a month plan. For $100 a month plan we choose either the 8GB or the 16GB model.
The good news is not all for post paid customers, pre paid customers too have their share. There is a start up bonus of $400 credit and 1GB of internet browsing for prepaid customers. Pre-paid customers can simply unlock the phone for $80 to switch to other network if they are not happy with Optus service.
Optus have published detail information regarding the service types, down payment price and also some rules and regulations. Check out the detail information about the pre-paid and the post paid plans.

HA HA HA. Optus prepaid. I have been monitoring 5 stores since the phone was released, called Optus and searched the web. They dont plan to have iPhones in stock for prepaid for quite some time. Optus CS had no idea what the details of the phone were except to say that the store has control over whether the phone is prepaid or post-paid, and Optus World stores say the opposite… The last time I called they told me it would be some time before they put prepaid ones out there, because they were simply being unlocked (der) and sold.
Anyway.. It is stupid and out of control. There should have been better management of this process, and Optus should honour their commitment to prepaid phones. Really if they didnt want to sell them, they should have doubled the price. Al least they would have been available.
