While browsing through the app store, I found this App called aSleep. What this app does is that it plays theme based natural sounds for you.  It includes sounds from four natural ambiences – Beach, Forest, Rain and Wind. In addition, it includes two human themes – Relax and Mediation. Just tap on any of the six themes, set the timer, and listen till you want.

Sounded a bit different, so I bought it.  The UI is simple and neat. But its visuals simply don’t go with any of the themes. The figure looks more in trance on some hallucinogenic drugs rather than in a tranquil state.

Quality sounds though, and pretty soothing ones. Except that if you are trying to tune in for a tranquil mode, don’t go for the Beach theme, it is a bit quirky with repeated sea-gull squeals.

Another thing is a lack of a volume controller. Are we supposed to listen to nature in an un-filtrated fashion? Finally, adding more natural themes would be a good idea. I would personally like to listen to some sounds under the categories Mountain and Waterfall and may be Night.

Very handy app, specially for a mobile device. I am looking forward to an updated version with much more natural themes and please, a volume controller.
