Business Apps at the App Store

The smash hit at the App store box office so fas has been the Games Apps. However, as recent trend, as charted by the Wall Street Journal shows, the number of business apps are growing steadily at the app store.

In a March meeting, Apple CEO Steve Jobs stated that iPhone was getting a software upgrade that is specifically targeted for making it more business-friendly. However, when the App Store was launched just about a month and a half ago there were just 23 business apps. However, as of now, there are already 64 business apps vailable and the number is growing by the day. Moreover, Oracle’s free app business app, the Oracle Business Indicator, has recorded 23,000 dowloads from the app store.

Add to this the “Finance” category, which has currently 69 apps.

The iPhone has been already been a smash hit as a consumer device. However, it has not yet exactly taken the enterprise world by storm. However, these stats certainly show a changing approach. The growing number of “Business” and “Finance” apps certainly show that the iPhone 3G is making some smart strides -at least in the daily lives of the business people, not only as a style statement, but also as a nifty business device.
