Fire at R&D Section of Apple

More than 100 Apple employees were forced to evacuate from 20605 Valley Green Drive in Cupertino as a fire broke out at the Research and Development section on Tuesday. The fire was reported shortly after 10 pm. Fire units from Santa Clara County, San Jose, Saratoga and Los Altos responded to the fire alarm and about 60 firefighters responded.

The fire is believed to have started from an air conditioning unit in the second floor. Hal Rooney, Santa Clara County Fire Deputy Chief says the extent of the damage is yet to be known. Everyone in the building were evacuated safely. At 12:30, Santa Clara Firefighters reported that they expected another hour to completely put out the fire.

We will know very soon about the detail of the damages caused by the devastating fire.

Meantime, reliable but anonymous sources at RIM hinted that the company was also working on having a fire break-out on their office premises. “We’ve got to match fire with fire,” our source at RIM clarified. More details as events unfold.
