iPhone advertisements banned in UK
A television advertisement for the iPhone read, “all the the parts of the internet are on the iPhone.” Advertising Standards Authority in UK lashed at Apple for this claim and termed the claim as misleading and banned the advertisement.
The charge and the claim are two extremes and are really petty and funny. Olivia Campbell, spokesperson of Advertising Standards Authority asserts:
Because the iPhone doesn’t support Flash or Java, you couldn’t really see the internet in its full glory. They made a very general claim that you can see the internet in its entirety, and actually that’s not quite true - so we’ve upheld.
On the other hand, it is understood that Apple referred to availability of web pages and contents rather than their specific appearances. This was how iPhone advertisements got banned in the UK and has become a laughing stock and a controversy.
