Million Mania Continues: 3 Million iPhones sold in the first month
According to a report published in CNN Money the third generation iPhone sales have gone down after the first weekend! 1 million in three days and then a slow progress through the rest of the month: only 2 million more units were sold. This figure exceeds the initial estimates by Wall Street analysts, who had predicted a modest 3–4 million sales quarterly.
Considering Apple’s original goal of selling 10 million iPhones by the end of the year, this isn’t bad progress. At the present rate itself, Apple stands to sell 15 million units by the end of the year. However, consider the 2nd phase global launch on August 22 in countries that did not receive the first generation iPhones and are waiting eagerly. And that high growth potential markets like India.
At a time when consumers are tired of fatigued over avalanche of products in every domain, such runaway sales are sure to bring some fresh gust of energy in the mobile phones market space.
