Remote Streaming of iTunes for iPhone and iPod

While companies around the world are trying to replicate the success story of the App Store, Apple is moving ahead with a totally new concept to give iPhone and iPod something unique. The days of sitting before your Mac or PC to sync with your iTunes library will soon be history.

Apple has submitted a 24-page patent application to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, which contains the proposal to enable iPhone and iPod users to sync their devices with their iTunes library content on their home systems from anywhere via Wi-Fi or the carrier’s network.

The new versions of iTunes and the handheld devices software will allow users to access videos, photos and games on their home library remotely from anywhere provided they have Wi-Fi or network connectivity. Moreover, the patent also contains the ability to delete files on their home device remotely using their handheld devices.

That’s not all, the new software will also allow users’ device to communicate with other compatible devices. This means you will be able to share data between your iPhone and the iPod or vice versa. We will wait and watch how well this idea is replicated by other competitors.
