3G iPhone killer: Samsung Omnia
This is a quick description of Samsung Omnia, the most talked about iPhone killer. We don’t find it as a real threat to the 3G iPhone, somehow. Yes, it is a touch screen and looks strikingly similar with our iPhone 3G, so this must be the reason why we contemplated ‘it’s an iPhone killer.’
It is not clunky as there are only three buttons to play with and not too big or too small just like our iPhone 3G. Memory capacity is exact 8GB or 16GB nothing new here too. It is slim and sexy with everything you are looking for in a Smartphone squeezed into it.
It has Windows Mobile 6.1, 3G and HSDPA speeds, Pro OS, Bluetooth, USB, Wi-Fi, GPS, 5 megapixel camera with flash, video recording, zoom, autofocus, smile detection, and geotagging, FM Radio, Optical joystick with virtual mouse functionality, accelerometer, TV-out, DivX, Xvid and WMV support, and a headset.
The Omnia comes with a stylus for typing on the virtual keyboard. Browsing is kind of OK, but not that fast even if you are on Wi-Fi network. Mobile Office is there by default, so you can create, view and edit your office documents. These features are just perfect for those Window Mobile faithfuls. Finally there is no Samsung App Store yet, so this is one thing that you missed out apart from other smaller features.
Now, for deciding your purchase plan, we leave it that to you. This is just the same as deciding either to go for a Mac or an ordinary PC. However, if you are not buying an iPhone, Samsung Omnia could be your next stop.
