AT&T East Coast Network Down

Boston, Chicago, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Virginia and Wisconsin experienced a near blackout network connection for about 10-12 hours early Wednesday. The problem was specific to AT&T network. This downtime affected not only 3G but also EDGE network. What went wrong?

AT&T Spokesperson Brad Mays said:

There was a routing issue affecting some wireless data use in the Northeast region. AT&T technicians determined the cause and restored service at 11:56 a.m. EDT

He further added, “Voice calling, text messaging and BlackBerry email were unaffected.”

Now, was that a problem with AT&T or the iPhone? BlackBerry users were unaffected? For iPhone users the network was down for about 12 hours, that was long. AT&T is pumping out credit money to users as compensation for the persistent problems, it is time for you to collect yours too. Seriously, AT&T needs to give a final solution to avoid that kind of blackout in the future.

[...] recent total AT&T connection blackout in the whole of East Coast still haunts our memories. We have never heard of such experience from other network users. Why [...]

What is going on with AT&T’s network!! Today is 11/6/08 and for the last 4hrs (it’s now 11pm) I can’t make or receive calls. I can’t even get through on 611. I keep getting “CALL FAILED NETWORK BUSY” I do NOT have an iphone or blackberry. I have a motorola razor. For the month of October, dropped calls are becoming more frequent. If AT&T keeps this up, I’m going to another company. This is insane NOT to notify customers of ‘outages!’ God forbid if I had an emergency today. I also feel bad for those who may have and were not able to get to loved ones. AT&T!!! GET IT TOGETHER CAUSE YOU’RE ABOUT TO LOSE A LOT OF CUSTOMERS!!!

Which part are you from? East Coast? Coverage is patchy, I guess. It is really frustrating actually, can’t even call support and lick them verbally.
