iPhone 3G for China? This is becoming really a painful wait and here is an extreme view that the possibility of launching the iPhone in China is still remote. This time, it is not the revenue sharing model alone that is putting off the release date. There are many reasons why the iPhone will not be coming soon to China.

This is weird, considering the phone is manufactured in China, but users have to order it from the US  if they want even a jailbroken iPhone. It seems the final round of talk will go on for some more time. This extends the tradition of requesting “get me an iPhone when you come back” to someone who goes to the US.

China has more than 500,000 first generation iPhones (jailbroken of course). Some estimate has it that 40% of all jailbroken iPhones are in China. There are black markets that seems to be doing so well for the 3G in China too in addition to the successful cloning business.

With all these activities happening behind the curtain, we now know that iPhone 3G is already there in China though Apple and China Mobile try their best to announce the launch date of the device. Apple needs to deactivate wireless internet function on the iPhone according to the guidelines given by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.  China Mobile needs to come out with a solution to support high 3G speed using the homegrown TD-SCDMA standard.

As the two parties goes on negotiating, the people are not waiting for them actually. They have adopted a better way to get the iPhone 3G though we call that as unofficial.
