iPhone and iPod touch will replace Nintendo DS and Sony Play Station?

Did Apple set out to kill two birds with a stone in deploying the iPhone and the iPod touch? To storm the mobile world and also to take down the famous handheld gaming devices such as Nintendo DS and Sony Playstation. The iPod was an idea of a portable MP3 player and has ruled the music world since its launch, the iPhone came as a venture to show mobile users a real taste of innovative device and now is about to rule us. Topping all these, we have some good news for Apple fans and bad news (so to put) for Sony and Nintendo fans.

Vice president of Mobile Strategy at Jupitermedia says something about the iPhone and the iPod touch.

If you’re thinking about buying something like a PSP or a DS, maybe you want to think again because we’ve got this cool device that does all your mobile stuff and, by the way, is a pretty excellent game platform as well.

Steve Palley, Editorial Guru for Vivendi Games Mobile also said:

The iPhone is going to make the mobile games industry into everything we always wanted it to be but failed to achieve.

Now, are we really heading for a gaming revolution? It’s really hard to say for now. We have to be patient and wait for atleast a year to see the results. Many devices have failed to take down the Nintendo and Sony in the past. The iPhone and iPod touch with the App Store around has already created small tremors and we will know soon whether this might become a real shake.
