iPhone sales hits 5 million

According to a Piper Jaffray analysis, Apple has already sold a staggering 5 million iPhones in the current quarter. We do not yet have the official Apple words for checking these numbers. (Apple will be doing that probably in a month’s time, during their Quarter 4 report)

Apple’s original goal of selling 10 million no longer seems another fantastic boast. This figure alone puts the total iPhone sales at a stunning 7.5 million iPhones for the year (taking in count the 2.5 million original iPhone’s sold before the launch of the iPhone 3G).

The holiday sales are yet to start. As well as Apple’s last phase of global iPhone launch.
10 million is a certainty. Let’s guess beyond that. How many iPhones will be sold beyond that? Piper Jaffray  analyst Gene Muster expects the figures to tough 13 million by the end of this year and an astronomical 45 million by next year.
