The app developers now have one more thing to worry about after Apple’s NDA and their weird ways of App approval. It’s piracy.
App piracy is already a pretty much “established” industry with PC apps. As some good people would argue
Surprised? There honestly should be no surprise in this development. From YouTube, Rapidshare to Google, and newsgroups, commonly a haven for pirated media of all kinds for years. There are more and more ways to download pirated iPhone Applications and more websites to learn how to do it.
The way it is generally done is through hosting cracked apps in certain not-so-modest sites that you can find out. In fact they will get in touch with you, as you know how they did with your PC apps.
The issue is up for Apple more than the devs. For one thing, just with their 30% store keep they can easily keep off these ugly heads. For another, devs have already done more than they should actually. I mean delivering you apps after apps, conforming to Apple’s NDA and then policing their own apps? Bit too much.
On this note, the most pirated app so far is, of course, a game. And that game is Spore.
Meanwhile, we would like to know how you feel about it and what you would do to prevent it?
