Quit smoking through an iPhone healthcare and fitness app
Kevin has been hell-bent upon proving that smoking is bad for health and that there should be healthcare and fitness apps on his iPhone for that. According to him, smoking is the biggest bane in our country today and we should be much more active about countering this. Looks like the developers are listening to him.
It seems that the App Store is slowly becoming one of the platforms for addressing this grave concern. Smoking. I mean quitting smoking.
This healthcare app offers a slightly different version of quitting smoking. Instead of keeping track on the number of white sticks you consume for your daily quota, this app goes deep down, right into your heart. This app for healthcare sees the status of your heart, I mean lungs. The physicians will be using data from the office spirometry, calculate that, and use this fitness app to translate that “Greek” result to a much simplified version, called the “Lung Age”. The result is that, you may be a 24 year old, but if you have done excessive smoking, your lungs might have aged faster than the rest of your body –i.e. you might have a lung age of 70 or so.
Nice, simple app. However, an additional feature, like a journo to keep a tab on your smoking habits would have helped people like me, who are trying hard not to go up in smokes.
