Vote for the best game, and win an iTunes gift card!

The most popular app category in the App Store is games. For a good reason. Games are perfect for showing off your iPhone, since they make great use of the touch-screen and the accelerometer–and of course they are fun and highly entertaining too.But which is the best game among these? Our IFP team looked around the App Store to see if we could find the best game. But most games become popular on release and then fade away, just looking at the “top games” list would be no good.

We also decided against the game reviews by users in the App Store, since, again, what people think of a game can change after they’ve posted a review, and the launch of a new game can change the way people perceive an older game–something the older reviews of the game will not be able to reflect.

So we’ve decided the best course of action is to simply ask you, our readers, to vote for your best games.

We’ve shortlisted some eight games that we like for you to chose from. Our selection criterion was simple: we decided against including free games, because most of them are in their “lite” versions–not full games, but demos, you might say.

So we decided on paid games, but again, of a certain category. Clearly, it wouldn’t make sense to list Super Monkey Ball along with Tunnels. So we picked games that cost less than three dollars, games
that are already very popular, and now we want you to tell us which one is your favorite. Post a comment to tell us which is your favorite game and why.

We’ll be looking at all the comments, and if your response is the best, you’ll win an iTunes gift card worth $10, so you can buy more of your favorite games!

The list of games, and a brief description are included below, so you can get started.

P.S. Yes, we know Cro-Mag Rally is selling for $1.99, but that’s actually a ten dollar game on sale. This and other such games have not been included in the list.

My Choice is…
1st iCopter
2nd Fire Drop Deluxe
3rd Hanoi Plus

Hi Sus,
It will be nice if you can give a reason/reasons why you vote for/select iCopter as the best game from the listed games. The winner will be selected based on their comments.

My vote is for Fire Drop Deluxe. I got addicted to this game through the “lite” version. Each level become more challenging as you move on. You only have 3 “mishits” before you have to replay the level. To get “Power Ups” you have to earn tokens though the levels. I haven’t been impressed with the power ups. This game will keep you busy for a couple of hours.

I-Copter is weak at best. You can play on line for free, so it is a waste for $.99. The game is a little difficult on the iphone. Too sensitive on the controls.

1. Dizzy Bee - i vote this game to be first because the graphics are great, sounds are great, there are different levels of difficulty to be played each time. Appeals to kids as well as adults.

2. Fire Drop Deluxe - i vote this 2nd because there are powerups like the dragon hatch from the eggs to help you clear the stages unlike the lite version. It is a fast game compared to dizzy bee.
Sometimes, fast games deprive less enjoyment than games that lets you play abit longer and makes you think.

3. Hanoi Plus - i vote this as 3rd because it is similar to the lite version. The gameplay is similar, not much difference from the lite version. Keeps you thinking for a while. It is the game that keeps me thinking longer time among these 3 games. However, gameplay is similar throughout the levels..so tends to get bored after a while.

Galcon is a big favorite. Better on the iPhone than on the desktop.

Mote-M is also a lot of fun.

1. iCopter - I like iCopter because it is a very simple game that most of us have already played before, but is still incredibly fun and addicting.

2. Hanoi Plus - Hanoi plus gets #2 because the game starts off really easy and has a moderate learning curve. This game is really enjoyable because you feel great after finishing one of the later puzzles.

3. iKick - Lastly, I picked iKick as 3rd on my list because you can just pick up and play it. You could have maybe 1 minute before class starts and you want to lossen up you can use this game, because its just as easy to pick up as it is to put down.

1. Firedrop Deluxe - Very Addictive.
2. iCopter - Very easy to play hard to win…:)

iTunes gift card? wow! that sounds like some plan ;). My vote goes to Firedrop Deluxe. It has to be the best game ever–the design is so meticulously done: Japanese lanterns, the arch, the soothing music, the monk and most of all, the dragons with their magic eggs that crashes the jars with aplomb!

The game play is awesome…I play in my college lawn during breaks, the subway..the works! I don’t use the power ups coz I don’t much like taking ‘help’ but I do love winning the bonus points. I love Firedrop! have I said enough? :)

Hanoi Plus is my choice for it’s easy to pick up and addictive gameplay. I have not played Firedrop yet but will probably get it next. I am not a fan of icopter and am confused why it remains in the top 25

I also like Scoops by the same developer and think it may be better than all of the games you have listed and it is currently climbing the top paid apps.
