Writing Application Review in App Store only for Application Owners

Apple has finally implemented this missing commandment for iPhone and iPod touch owners and App Store visitors. What is the commandment? If you don’t have an iPod touch or an iPhone and if you have not downloaded a particular application, you cannot write review for that application.

From now on, developers will have no more worries that someone who doesn’t own their application might write a negative review to mislead buyers.

Almost all the applications in the App Store have false reviews written by people who have not purchased/used the concerned application. I am sure people who doesn’t own an iPod touch or an iPhone also have written application reviews. Most of the reviews that read, “the app is overpriced,” comes from people who have not used/downloaded the applications.

There will be no more reviews that read “I have not purchased this application, but it looks OK/bad,” etc. Now, application developers will atleast get genuine reviews from people who actually have downloaded the concerned apps.

If you attempt to write a review for application that you have not purchased/downlaoded a pop up screen will inform you that you need to own the application to write a review.
