Berrystore for BlackBerry users as they wait for BlackBerry App Store

How many days, weeks or months, we don’t know; yet you have to wait for the BlackBerry App Store. There are talks that the BlackBerry App Store might be only for the BlackBerry Storm which is not yet launched. Berrystore, a third party is distributing applications for BlackBerry users to make the long wait less painful. All the available apps are free and Berrystore owners have plans to deploy paid applications too.

I could not test the available applications as I have long ago traded my old BlackBerry Curve to switch on to the iPhone 3G. I wish I kept it till date, poor child! Hope your new owner (my friend) is keeping you in good shape. Well, there are about two dozen applications for download and if you have BlackBerry (any model), the applications are yours. There is no carrier bonding to have the apps.

Please, do know that Berrystore is not in anyway related to RIM, so you have no logical rights to complain RIM or Berrystore if something goes wrong with your device or the application. Berrystore is doing a free social service for BlackBerry fans. RIM somehow is not happy with what Berrystore guys have done as they have their own plans to launch their App Store soon. Berrystore guys spoiled the possibilities of giving BlackBerry users a known surprise. In the end, Berrystore can be a threat to the success of BlackBerry App Store if Berrystore does not stop the service when the real BlackBerry App Store is launched.

According to some sources the BlackBerry App Store will be hosted by the network operators. RIM will manage the central repository. The whole idea is not clear yet and we will know the detail only after the delayed launch of the BlackBerry Storm.
