iPhone sales sparks research interests for O’Reilly and Stanford
We associate iPhone with astonishing sales figures, the amazing “app”avalanche, serpentine queues outside Apple Stores all over the country and most parts of the globe. Now while we, the iPhoners go crazy about anything iPhone, it seems that Apple latest amazing iThing, the iPhone has impressed the techno geeks and gods alike. Let’s look at some of the sectors where the iPhone is creating big splashes:
1. O’Reilly Conference: On November 18th, in San Jose, CA, O’Reilly will be organizing a conference, iPhone Live:
We’ll cover development issues from coding to release, as well as general market information and lessons learned from leading iPhone developers and entrepreneurs.
2. iPhonebooks: We have already reported on this. The latest one in the fray is iPhone in Action, scheduled for January 2009 softbound print release. With a strangely oriental cover design the book promises to capture the essence of application development and the app eco system.
Looks like exciting times ahead for iPhone/iPod touch. Specially the “app”avalanche.
3. Stanford University: This great incubator of innovators have not only introduced a course on iPhone application programming for their Autumn 2008-9 session in the haloed corridors of their computer science department, they have also launched an app, iStanford for iPhone/iPod touch users for free.
