Learning to fly through an iPhone Education App

An iPhone education app to prepare for pilot tests.

Can the iPhone be used to learn flying?

It can be. At least theoretically. You can prepare for five different pilot tests –Private Pilot, (airplane), Sport pilot (airplane), Recreational Pilot (airplane), Commercial Pilot (airplane) and Instrument rating (airplane).

The app is basically a question bank, a test paper rather, for preparing for these 5 FAA tests. You can take choose for any of these tests, select your answers through a quiz format and then see the result. The result shows both correct and incorrect answer. For incorrect answers, you have the option to review the correct answers.

The app is informative and priced reasonably for its range of information, but should have been a bit more fun. Though this FAA app provides ample information, this should have had better looks. The diagram questions specially.

After all, this app does not actually make you a pilot.

Unless of course you are Kenan Thompson aka Troy in Snakes On a Plane.  Kenan Thompson landed a poisonous snake-filled plane with a prior flight experience that contained PlayStation 2 video game flight simulator . Now Apple is infinitely better than Sony. Now is the time to learn flying through your iPhone.
