What about seeing these all familiar lines dancing all around your iPhone and re-living the age-old story of  St. Nicholas in a sleigh pulled by eight reindeer,  entering a man’s house through the chimney and filling up the children’s stockings hanging by the fire and wishing them Merry Christmas?

After “The Shadows Never Sleep ”, we have another fascinating app at the App Store that makes good use of the IPhone’s technology features to make it an engaging story telling medium.

Night Before Christmas is a Talkie Book by Lol Software that narrates the 1823 classic by Clement C Moore and Jessie Willcox Smith.

The innovation is in the presentation. The app superbly recreates the poem by using the iPhone’s touchscreen technologies. For instance, in this app you would be scrolling to go to the words after you see the colorful pictures of Santa and his various wanderings on your iPhone.

The advantageous features of this education app, over “The Shadows Never Sleep” is that this app uses a narrator’s voice. However, this app, with arguably a better storyline than Shadow’s never Sleep would have definitely benefited if it used it has used the pinching to zoom feature to trace the narrative track.

I personally like its illustration. It’s created on a very soothing looking template and a basic color scheme of red and green on a yellowish page. Buy this app to experience 21st century treatment of a 19th century classic that introduced Santa , the great benevolent saint to the world.

The only thing is its timing of release. This could have probably been released, just a week before the Christmas. The app would’ve had a good enough gift value also in that case.
