Nokia to launch iTunes Replica?

It seems competition for digital dominance is gaining speed. Up there in the clouds of the Internet. And it’s all going mobile. After Android and the “futuristic” Skymarket, Nokia and Sony Ericsson too are joining in the fray.

Nokia is launching its own digital shop for music, aimed at giving access to millions of tracks right at your palmtop, provided you own any compatible Nokia phone. You will in fact own the music forever, even if you decide to do away with your Nokia handset.  But when ?

The first Nokia Comes with Music phones are expected to hit shops in time for the lucrative Christmas shopping season.

Sony Ericsson, last week also offered a similar service PlayNow Plus for Sweden. Again with offers of unlimited downloads for a fixed monthly fee.

While these are all clear cut competition for Apple, iPhone and iTunes- it spells great things for users. Great content, great audio. All downloaded from Wi-Fi and other hi-fi sources, stored and stashed away in your pocket.

However, as of now – I am happy with iPhone and iTunes. It has already saved me from the drool-est speech of all time – that of my boss’s farewell speech.
