October 2008 Apple event: iPhone headset works with Macbook and Macbook Pro

You might be unhappy that the October 14, Apple event was exclusively for Macbooks series; nothing for the iPhone. Some of us were expecting that Steve Jobs will announce the release of the long awaited iPhone firmware 2.2, but it didn’t happen. The new ranges of shinnier, slicker and stunningly more beautiful Macbook and Macbook Pro series steal away the whole event.

Hold on, that’s not all; it seems Apple has a serious plan to find out the missing links of all Apple products. In future Apple products will be linked in such a way that an accessory of one product will work for all Apple products. How does this sound? We have some examples. The iPod/iPhone works as a remote for Apple TV and now the iPhone headphones works on the new series of Macs.

Single click on the iPhone headset pause/restart iTunes music, double click jumps one track ahead and triple click skips one track backward when you use the headset on the iPhone. Of course you know that. Now, if you have just bought any of the newly launched Macbook or Macbook Pro, plug in your iPhone headset to the new device, open iTunes and try the same trick. It works! The iPhone’s built-in microphone is also perfect if you want to use it for voice chat.

Well, this is the reason why I say Apple is searching for the missing links.
