Recession, Hairstyle and the iPhone
Is the iPhone sexist? That’s debatable since we don’t yet know whether Steve Jobs is nail-chauvinist.
However, this iPhone App certainly is. And the developer has made it a point to stress upon this. The bold declaration at App Store reads this:
Sorry men, this version contains female hairstyles only.
One app, exclusively for women in an otherwise neutral app world. Something that beauticians might find helpful as well.
Use the iPhone’s camera and take a snap shot of yours. Use this snap in the app. And experiment on your looks with 60 different styles and 53 different colors.
The interface is good for comparing and choose from different hairstyles. It’s sort of a gallery display that lets you contrast, compare and finally choose your own look.
So the iPhone as a sort of a series of digital mirrors? Looks a cool deal. And my friend Sarah said she would vouch fro that.
However, the big question in the time of the greatest economic depression since the 1930s is that would you be narcissistic enough to spend 5 dollars for an app that lets you do all these? Whatever Sarah says, one thing for certain, this app is completely in its own class. You won’t hear so much about hair anywhere else in the App Store.
