xCube Labs have launched yet another game after their three previous apps at the App Store-two engaging games Fire Drop and Rescue Angel and the pretty handy Healthcare and Fitness App - Health n Me. Their latest offering, Idle Hands, however, is a very different take on the gaming space. In a first of its kind game, xCube Labs has created a game that is designed to make you an expert virtual keyboard user.

How does it work? Tap  “World Typing Challenge” and type in the entire test. Tap on “Show Result” at the right hand corner of the screen to view your typing accuracy and speed.  The result is displayed in terms of your speed and accuracy and then that result puts you in categories according to your performance. From “Toddler” to “Awesome.” However, what is so great about the whole concept? Now, typing is probably the essential function in the iPhone. At least the most used one. (Blogging for instance) Now, at that point, as we all know, the iPhone/iPod touch’s virtual keyboard has drawn a lot of flak.

Interface and the Content: The short typing exercises and texts are selected from the insanely likable “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”. The interface of this app is revelation. created on a off-whitish backdrop, with creamy spaces for the results to appear. This interface looks comfortable on the eye and makes the boring job of typing, tapping pretty interesting.

Plus, they have included three interesting sections to lend a competitive juice to the whole thing. These are:

1. A top scores of the month section.

2. World top 10.

3. 6 pretty interesting levels.

Plus, there is a handy section about typing tips. Check out these tips. they have really improved my typing/tapping on the iPhone’s virtual keyboard.

User reception: Right now, it’s in the top free apps list. In fact it has cracked into the top 10 free games.

Overall, it’s a free app, designed to make you familiar with probably the iPhone’s most awkward UI feature. Go ahead and download it. You will like the app for its simplicity.
