Chunghwa Telecom, the largest telecom service provider in Taiwan has signed a deal with Apple to launch the iPhone 3G. Chunghwa Telecom has around 300 sales outlet in the country and its partner Senao International Co. has about 200 sales outlet. It is speculated that Apple selected Chunghwa as the exclusive distributor because of its large sales channel.

In what we observe as a good sign for both Apple and the Chunghwa Telecom, Chunghwa’s market share climbed 3.6 percent following the announcement of the iPhone launch. Thanks to the iPhone!

Sources inside Chunghwa Telecom said the device will be available before the end of 2008:

Chunghwa has signed a contract with Apple, and will provide third- generation iPhone services in Taiwan before the end of the year.
