iPhone and iPod touch Wallpapers: Tips
Wallpapers represent the way one thinks about his or her iPhone or iPod touch. It’s an extension of the user’s personality. So how do you want your iPhone to look like?
Before that, however, just take a note of two technical aspects”
1. Orientation: Most of the wallpaper resources on the screen are for square or rectangular screens, oriented horizontally. With the iPhone screen you have a vertical orientation. So adjust accordingly. Use the “Move and Scale” option whenever you want to.
2. Resolution: The iPhone/iPod touch screen is 320 x 480 resolution. However, it’s not likely that you are going to have your favorite image in that resolution. However, I have found out that the 1024 x 768 pixelsworks out quite fine for the iPhone screen.
Some other observations: While it’s absolutely personal about what is the best look for your iPhone and iPod touch, I have certain observations on this:
1. Keep it neat. Too much information does not suit that screen space.
2. Use the Move and Scale option as much and whenever possible.
3. Colors: That’s a personal choice. However black and white still rules, especially on the sleek iPhone screen.
4. Orientation: Vertically oriented photographs/images rule on the iPhone screen.
Wallpaper Resources:
1. Choose from the iPhone’s list of wallpapers: You have some really nice wallpapers in the iPhone’s list of 28 Wall Papers. You have “Monalisa”, the exceedingly likeable Pebbles, or the classic looks of an iPhone/iPod touch user’s silhouette dancing around with the white-lined speakers jacked right into their ears.
2. The iPhone Camera: Take a photograph of something you would like to en-frame. Take a picture, add it to your photo album and use it as a wallpaper.
3. Screenshot: Take a screenshot (of a Monkeyball world, may be?), add it to your photo album and use it as a wallpaper.
4. Apps: Install an application like the Art Gallery and use it pictures from it as a wallpaper. Graffiti apps, like The Dark Knight also might help.
5. On the Web:
A. One of the better sources is the iphonewallpapers.us. Here you will find wallpapers under 15 categories with each category including quite a handful of photos to choose from.
B. Safari: Best way to get the best wallpaper is safari. Go to the National Geographic photo archive and have Grand Canyon. Or have Michael Phelps swimming to glory right on your plamtop.
The iPhone is not just about utility. It’s as much about utility as it is about looks, style and sleekness. So what are you waiting for? Splash your iPhone with colors or bring in that look you have always wanted for your palmtop device.
