Meizu’s iPhone clone M8 coming in November
We talked about this long time back, cloning of the iPhone. It has taken Meizu almost a year to replicate the look and feel of the iPhone in M8 the iClone. Here is a confirmation that the device will be available in Meizu’s native land China by November 30th. The company is waiting for approval of the product’s license.
In China the device will be available sans Wi-Fi per government regulation. India, Hong Kong, Europe and US are in the export list expected before Christmas eve. M8 is equipped with a 3megapixel camera, has FM radio to compensate for 3G absence and supports Edge network. M8 has a safari like web browser, iPod like media player and strikingly resembles the iPhone.
It is likely that Apple will file a lawsuit for copyright infringement against Meizu for copying the iPhone. We will only know when M8 lands here.
One reason we thought iPhone clone may sell like hot cakes is the presumed low price. However, the price of M8 is not that low, in fact it is a direct competition with the iPhone. M8 8GB will be available for $348 and the 16GB version for $421. The pricing of M8 could be a relief to Apple as many buyers will prefer buying the original iPhone if they are to pay more for the cloned one. Bad news for those of you who have waited for a cheap iPhone clone.
