The Good Shepherd on Your iPhone: ElectroCUTE
A small team of developers from Full Control ApS and WIT Entertainment has developed their first co-production-a game for the iPhone and iPod touch. The concept of the game is fresh. The game moves around a sci-fi theme where your role is that of a good shepherd.
Setting: Quite, starry night. A window green meadow, a tree at the corner of the meadow, a big moon.
Time passes. Suddenly one spaceship arrives. And hovers around for a while before snapping up a hovering sheep with ultra-violet, and of course unearthly beams.
Your role: You are a digital shepherd. Protect these sheep from these greedy aliens.
Your weapon? Basically the natural energy. By pinching on the screen to electrocute to destroy the spaceships. You also get helps from bombs, extra life etc.
Caution: These are deadly weapons and are equally dangerous for your sheep as they are for these UFOs.
Rating for the concept: 3. 5
Scoring process: You score by killing the alien spaceships and by killing them fast. And through the power-ups and and also by protecting as many sheep as possible. Note that, you also have certain time-altering options.
Sound effects: The sound effects are really good. Especially the sounds that are generated when a sheep is sucked in by the UFO. The sounds really help. In fact i had my highest score in the game with the sound on!
Playing environment: Pretty easy at the initial levels, but becomes increasingly engaging and fast once you clear the initial levels and the alien invasion starts in full throttle.
Rating for the over-all ambience: 4.5.
Use of the Interface: This game makes good use of the iPhone’s multi-touch screen. You basically need to master tapping and pinching to score well in this game. However, especially while playing the higher levels, the provision to rotate the digital lightnings would have been real helpful.
Rating for using the iPhone technology: 3.5
Definitely worth a buy. And if you are interested, right now, the developers are offering a special November price slashing. The game, right now, is available for only $1.99.
Note: When contacted, the developers have said that several other games for the iPhone platform are in the pipeline- ranging from sports games to multiplayer fantasy games.
