Amazon brings 1-click shopping to the to the iPhone through its free app Amazon Mobile
Amazon.com comes to the App Store. Go carting, go shopping, compare, contrast and ultimately buy as App Store’s one click shopping doorway now opens up an entry to Amazon.com, the other one click shopping paradise.
What is so great about it? Smooth-looking interface, smoother efficacy and the world of Amazon at your palmtop.
Plus, an experimental feature only for the iPhoners. The Amazon Remember makes full use of the iPhone camera by creating a visual list of things that you want Amazon and your iPhone to remember. If your photo resembles a product Amazon Remember will try to search a product similar to your image on the web, if such a product is available for sale.
Plus, the usual Amazon benefits are all available:
1. Fast search.
2. Loads of search options.
3. Comparisons.
4. User reviews.
5. Comparing and contrasting prices, having access to all the digital carts and wish lists and shopping, shipping payment options.
Does it sound like a queer déjà vu? Why Amazon ignored the Kindle possibility for an iPhone app?
Bob Warfield of in the Smooth Span Blog has the great suggestion here:
it just makes me wonder why Amazon hasn’t launched the real killer iPhone application: a Kindle-style reader that runs on iPhones. Assuming Amazon doesn’t think it makes most of the money from sales of the Kindle itself, the iPhone would be a huge acclerator for the Kindle business model. And what better time than now, during the holiday season, to launch such a thing. Amazon’s updated Kindle version 2 was delayed until next year anyway.
However, I already have it and I am enjoying my time with it. And it also looks like that good things some time do come for free.
