App Store 2008 for flashlight and calculator apps: 2009 for singing iPhone apps

The App Store used to be the largest repository of flashlight and calculators apps for the iPhone. We have a new addition to the list with many developers eying at the success of singing applications. The year 2008 was great for iPhone flashlight and calculator applications.

The New Year, 2009 will be a fun filled App Store era for laughter and smiles. The number of singing iPhone application featuring animals, objects and people are quickly filling up the entertainment and music section.

On being asked why Apple is serious about making iPhone users laugh and smile, Dan Riccio development lead at Apple said that this is the time Americans should laugh and smile to live through the bad economy. He added:

Laughter is the best known stress buster, we at Apple are glad that iPhone app developers are doing their very best to make us laugh. The trend started with the innovative laughing application, You Shake iLaugh. The App Store is here to serve a social purpose, and singing applications will lead us through 2009.

iphone-singing-appsToday, it is not in the least strange to see people standing together in a corner and laughing together looking at something happening inside the iPhone. Few days back, I saw two guys sitting outside Apple Store in University Ave, Palo Alto glaring at an iPhone and laughing away. They were playing with the Singing Monkey application, where a monkey mimics songs and speeches. The two guys said they were looking for work and added the application is so creative. They said they would love to be part of a development team that provide amusement and fun to people.

Next, I asked them what are the other amusing applications they have? A whole lot of singing applications with attractive icons showed up on the iPhone screen they were glaring at. Singing Cat, Singing Dog, Singing Santa, Singing Bowl, Singing Pumpkin, Singing Snowman, SUZU Wake Me Gently, etc, are some of the apps I could remember.

With all these applications in the App Store, iPhone users are optimistic about the coming year. 2009 is going to be a year full of smiles and laughter though we may have to be little careful about our pockets.

iphonefootprint team wishes all our readers a very Happy New Year.
