Create iPhone ringtones from your favorite songs? iPhone tip

Tired of paying $1.99 to get your favorite songs as ringtones for your iPhone? Victor once wrote on how to create ringtones with iTunes 8.0. Here is the complete workaround to create your own ringtones from the list of songs you already have on your device. You need no extra software for the conversion; iTunes is all that you require. The procedure differs a little for Windows users and Mac users. Follow the instruction given below:

  1. Open iTunes.
  2. If you are a Mac user go to Preferences (Windows users, click on the Edit option).
  3. Inside Import Settings, select ACC Encoder.
  4. In iTunes Music section, select the song that you want to use as your ringtone.
  5. Right click on the song and choose “Get Info.”
  6. On the new page, go to Options and set the start time and end time of the ringtone. (Maximum is 30 seconds).
  7. Right click on the song again and select “Create ACC Version.”
  8. A new 30 second version of the song will be added to the existing list.
  9. Right click on the new song and select “Reveal in Finder” (Mac Users)/”Show in Windows Explorer” (for Windows Users).
  10. In the pop up window, change the extension of the file .m4a to .m4r.
  11. Once done, open the ringtone page in iTunes and drag and drop the converted music file.
  12. Before syncing your iPhone, select the custom ringtones you want to include from the list of songs you have converted.

You can create as much ringtones as you wish. Stop purchasing ringtones for the coming year!
