With snow lying all around, here is the game that you would love playing on your iPhone and iPod touch to welcome the New Year. Snowball Runner is a game where you tilt and control a rolling snowball down snow covered mountain slopes. There are many surprise elements that make the game exciting and fun. It’s time to give a break to the racing games and try this rolling and tilting game.

The game play

There is this small snowball that starts rolling down a steep snow covered mountain slope and you are suppose to tilt your iPhone or iPod touch to avoid the snowball from hitting houses, rocks, trees and flags. The ball increases in size as it rolls down and your score depends on how many animals, birds, snowmen, gifts, dwarfs and Santas you run over. The speed of the ball increases when it becomes bigger and with the advancement of the levels. If you think that you are good in playing tilting games on the iPhone, Snowball Runner is the game that will prove your skill. You can become the world Snowball Runner Champion.

The Challenges

The game starts off with a speed that look easy to control, and obstacles are few and manageable in the beginning. Do not put down the game yet, the real challenge lies ahead. Houses, trees and rocks become numerous as the levels increase and the speed of the snowball becomes maddening once you cross level 15. Ramps that make the snowball fly and take down the flying birds sometime become traps. If you do not tilt in the right way, you roll into the blue pond, the sudden dead point. You are ready to start all over again from the beginning (which I consider is frustrating). You also get eliminated if the snowball becomes too small after crashing into too many obstacles.

The hidden Powers

Though the path becomes more treacherous with the increase in level, there are hidden ways through which you can fight on. Ramps become a frequent sight once you reach level 5, which make the snowball fly in the air to take down the flying birds to earn more points and to make the ball bigger. Hitting Santas also earn you more points. Along with Santas, magical gifts are strewn along the mountain slopes. Blue gifts make the ball bigger and the yellow gifts make the snowball invincible for a short time, during which it glows and is unaffected even if the ball hits the obstacles that actually reduce its size.

Something missed

Snowball Runner no doubt is an interesting game. It has a happy beginning and the ending is hard to know. Is there an ending at all? I could not go beyond the 15th level and don’t know completely what happens after that. I wish the game provides an option to start over from the level where I got eliminated and not from the scratch. The game music becomes monotonous after playing the game for several hours, the option to play music from my genius list would have been simply great.

Snowball Runner is a game designed to appeal people of all ages who love tilting games on the iPhone. The graphics and the whole game idea are simple, complete and awesome.
