More options for editing Excel on the iPhone

excel-for-iphoneLooks like editing existing killer apps is the new wave in the app world. Quickoffice’s MobileFiles Pro joins an existing gallery of applications – namely Spreadsheet, Spreadsheet LX, iSpreadsheet, and also the forthcoming Mariner Calc app that make editing and accessing the spreadsheet that bit more efficient.

Quickoffice has displayed two apps together –the lite or free version, MobileFiles and the full-fledged MobileFiles Pro which is priced at $9.99, just in case you wanted to check out how the app works before going for buying it.

Through this app the users can edit their Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheets. The app is structured around four simple and basic parameters – Access, View, Manage and Edit. The users access and transfer files between the desktop Mac or PC over the Wi-Fi. They can also pull up excel files through MobileMe’s iDisk sharing.

The app lets users use most of the common file formats –including various types of image (.jpg, .jpeg, .tif, .rtif, .gif , .sgv), media, MS Office (.doc, .docx), iWork (pages, numbers, keynotes), and Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) files, Web Pages (.htm, .html).Web archive (.mht), Audio (.mp3), movies (standard iPhone format)

The app includes a good deal of Excel features and also ensures simplicity of use. Just tap on a cell to edit it – whether you put in a new value, or add new pages or use formulas. Its spreadsheet features include viewing Excel 2003 and 2007 files, editing and creating Excel 2003 files, using over 125 excel functions and changing fonts and cell colors among others.

Will applications like this push the iPhone more and more into the enterprise sector? This is a damn nifty idea and make no mistakes about that.
