Obama Inauguration day: We’ll miss Bush, Bill, Jobs and Yang.
The day has come! Barrack Obama is finally going to replace George W Bush as the 44th President of the United States. We would now be in the hands of a less offensive, but tech savvy President. RIM, the maker of the BlackBerry series is about to lose someone who had been faithful to BlackBerry; the new president is restricted to use his BlackBerry for security concerns.
Tim Cook is heading Apple in the Absence of Steve Jobs. Bill Gates was not there at the CES 2009 like the way Jobs skipped the Macworld Expo 2009. Yahoo finds replacement for its yanked CEO Jerry Yang. Things are happening so fast. Politics, recession and technology have a meeting point here.
The war
Bush would leave war stories and the record of incurring trillions of national debts for Obama to clean up. Steve Jobs is an Apple icon. The success of the company is synonymous to Jobs being the head. Tim Cook has a tough time ahead to fulfill the dreams of the company and satisfy onlookers and stakeholders in the absence of Jobs.
Yahoo finally finds someone to replace Jerry Yang. Carol Bartz is the new Yahoo CEO and her top priorities are to regain what Yahoo has lost to Google and to bury the embarrassment of the failed Micro-hoo deal. Steve Ballmer is leading Microsoft and trying his best to revive the fame of Windows with Windows 7 and forget the nightmare of Vista.
The comeback
Palm, the name which was once thought to be synonymous with the word ‘smartphone’ is striking back to take a bite off smartphone market share with Palm Pre. The timing of the launch is bad as people are thinking more about saving than spending. People around the world have a tough time ahead and this applies even to smartphone makers. Will the Pre make it as big as the iPhone or something near to that?
The New Year is still young, yet has many welcomes and adieus in store for us. Yes, we’ll all miss Bill, Bush, Jobs, and Yang. The saddest partings for now are Obama with his BlackBerry and Jobs with Apple (temporarily).
