Apple’s App Store as a software distribution platform has made Smartphone makers realize that it is an ideal distribution system of all times. App Store has made life easy for both the users and the distributors of applications. We’ve heard that other companies are planning to launch the likes of App Store for distributing applications for their mobile devices.

Google, RIM, Palm, etc have plans to launch a platform for hosting applications for their devices. For Nokia, the arrangement to launch their App Store seems to be real and near. There is strong indication that Nokia would probably announce the launch of their App Store at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2009. GSMA Mobile World Congress 2009 is scheduled from 16 to 19 February in Barcelona. Nokia, of course has not confirmed about the launch. We are also yet to know the name of the Nokia online software store.

The Mobile World Congress is a premier event where major global mobile industry giants meet up. Every year this congress attracts thousands of visitors from around the world. Will Nokia’s App Store  be as good as Apple’s App Store? We will know soon.
