Do you know why Apple placed the alphabets and special characters and numbers under different pages in the iPhone virtual keyboard? What would the iPhone virtual keyboard look like if the numbers and alphabets are placed on the same page? The keyboard would look too cluttered. If you have a jailbroken iPhone, you can actually try out this clubbed keyboard.

Kenny TM the developer of hClipboard an app that supports “copy and paste” on jailbroken iPhone has successfully added a fifth row to the iPhone’s default four row virtual keyboard. The fifth row contains the number and special characters. 

The app is correctly named 5-Row QWERTY Keyboard. In addition to the original iPhone keyboard content, the application also contains additional symbols and character such as the directional arrows that you have on the computer’s keyboard.

The whole idea is so sweet, but on a serious note, those of you who have big fingers have to really struggle to hit the right letters/characters. Or maybe it’s time to purchase one of those iPhone stylus.
