Having multicolored and shiny marbles on your iPhone/iPod touch might not be a great deal unless they test your hand eye co-ordination and mastery over handling the touch-screen interface.

On The Ball, as we have reported earlier, - is the latest addition to a line of apps that are based solely on testing your control over the various aspects of the touch screen interface. Whether you call these as games or not depends completely on your perception – what these apps do is clear, they test your speed and hand-eye co-ordination while using the various somatic aspects of the iPhone/iPod touch UI.

On The Ball, for instance uses great graphics and sound effects. Six marbles in grey, red, blue, pink, black and green, with shiny 3d looks appear on screen. You can go to the option to select the marble color you want.

Gameplay:

1. Objective: Tap on the play button and place your finger on the chosen marble and wait as the countdown begins. After the 3-2-1 bit, your time and scoring starts. The objective of the game is to keep  your finger on the marble. Well, that’s not easy since that itself is the game. The marble starts to move weird, with awkward pace, in awkward directions and then to add to the whole effect -the marble changes its size. It’s size is diminished as the game progresses and with that its speed increases. You might jolly well end up a bit crazy with all the crazy movements you make across the touchscreen UI with your finger.

2. Scoring: The game, predictably is high–scoring and time-bound. Now that just adds to the whole fun.

Tip: Keep your iPhone/ipod touch absolutely clean. Also make sure that your fingers are not oily at all. You cannot afford to miss the marble in this game!

Audience: One user at the App Store says that this marble game has kept both for his 4 year old nephew and him on the tenterhooks. Well, I have tried the game. The lure of the mad marbles is quite addicting on the iPhone touch screen.
