App Store review classification good for developers

review_classification2Apple recently made change to the App Store review display. This is the third move that Apple made to ensure comments made in the App Store about applications are helpful to customers. The latest implementation also would ensure developers get positive reviews for applications they have given updates.

The first major change came when Apple implemented the policy of “own to comment.” This policy makes it mandatory for people to own applications for which they want to post comments. The second move was cleaning up the comments of those who have not used it.

The latest change is the classification of reviews submitted for all applications in the App Store. The classification is done based on the version of the app. Review figures for the latest version of applications are displayed separately against the reviews written for all the versions. Ratings are also separately displayed for the current software and the overall ratings.

Customers can directly click on the Review of the current version and see what others has to about the application in its latest form.  This is particular handy for customers to decide faster either to download the app or just leave it based on the feedback.

Customers can rate applications without necessarily writing a review or write detail reviews of applications for those applications they have purchased. Apple has done a great thing in implementing this review classification, confusion in the App Store would somehow be reduced now.
