Apple extends iPhone SDK and iTunes contracts till July 11
Apple has sent out notifications to those developers who signed up for the beta iPhone SDK program last year that their contract terms have been extended till July 2009. iPhone app developers were confused about renewal of their contracts with Apple as their contracts are about to expire.
Apple apparently does not have renewal process in place and is understood to be sorting out the details to handle contracts in a long term. There was some fear that failure to renew the contract on time could result in removal of applications from the App Store. At least, the worst has been averted.
Apple also has promised to contact the developers to let them know the detail information about the extension and the instructions about the renewal. The 60 day renewal period would be available to developers from May 2009.
