There are many reasons why Apple might jump into netbook business and there are enough reasons too why the company may not be interested in doing business at a low cost hardware front. 

Touchscreen supplier Wintek recently told a Chinese newspaper that the company is working with Apple on some new products and the rumors about Apple netbook got revived. However, at this stage nothing is concrete yet and it’s not known what that new product actually could be. 

Back in 2008, when asked about the chances of Apple getting into netbook business, Steve Jobs said that it is a new market and Apple is not ready to participate yet, but is watching. This somehow suggests that the company might get into the business. Tim Cook, the interim chief at Apple said the same thing that Apple is watching the market. 

Though it is unlikely for Apple to jump into low budget hardware space, if anything of a netbook comes from Apple it would be implemented in a very innovative way making it a must have device. According to the rumors doing their rounds, Wintek would supply the touch screens and Quanta would manufacture them into Apple netbook hopefully by the second part of 2009.
