I love playing “Spot the Difference” games on the newspaper; may be this is one strong reason I read the newspaper everyday. However, it was only today that I realized the addictive nature of this eye straining game. I stumbled upon Photo Spot from Nexx Studio in the App Store and got hooked to this game.
Being someone with a try-before-buy knack, I installed the Lite version first. The lite version offers 20 sets of images and multiple levels.
Gameplay: It is real simple to use this app. The game shows two images separated by a time bar. You need to just tap on the differences and if you have tapped on the right place, a green circle will appear on both the images. You can also use the hint option, but be careful to use them as the hint options are limited. The app is perfectly touch sensitive (unlike what one App Store reviewer says.)
The levels are timed, there are three hints available for each season. There are time bonuses and the ability to compare your pattern spotting skills in an online challenge. So you not only have to spot the differences, but you have to spot them fast.
Images: The image variety of the app is a real plus. You get the conventional sets where you need to spot differences between identical archeological structures where the difference lies in the presence or absence of an extra beam on a window pane. However, alongside that you will also get an array of images with different flavors and patterns – from colorful vegetables to complex designs and also teasers like the one here in the image.
Sound: the game boasts of steady sound effects, like a warning sound when you tap right or an encouraging one when you have correctly spotted the difference.
Now, how addictive is the app? Well I started with the lite version, and soon ran out of the images and purchased the paid version. And I am really addicted to it now.
Enhancement: There is only one enhancement, I can think of. More and more images!
Overall comment: Finish off your works before playing this game. This game is real addictive and will keep you hooked to your iPhone for hours.
