Import facebook photos to your iPhone contact list with Photo Phonebook
Are some of your facebook friends in the contact list on your iPhone? If so, you would love to import their pictures into the contact list right? Download Photo Phonebook right away and try it when it’s still free.
Photo Phonebook is an iPhone application that can export matching pictures of your facebook friends right onto your iPhone. Neat idea, something like Google Sync. The only complain with Google Sync is that I cannot select contacts that I want to import to the iPhone. It imported all my gmail contacts even those outdated ones, which I use no more. I spent a good two hours cleaning up my contacts page after syncing.
The trial and outcome
I downloaded, Photo Phonebooks sometime back and have patiently experimented a lot. You need to sign up after downloading the application, this doesn’t take much time, I was glad about that. But when I signed in to my facebook account via the application to import photos to my phone’s contact, I was not very happy with the outcome.
Most of my friends have at least one picture in their facebook accounts, out of the some 200 friends, the application only managed to extract four photos. I have to spend hours cross checking some of the names, edit in some cases at least to add some more. Even after changing the names exactly as given in facebook, the application displayed the same four photos for days as only contacts that match.
I would have done better if I instead have downloaded the pictures from facebook, sync the photos to the my iPhone and assign them manually to my contacts. Sometimes trying to do things in the shortest possible time and in the easier way is disastrous. To uninstall the application was an immediate necessity.
You also don’t have the option to move and scale the photos to add them in the desired shape and size.
This is one application wonderfully thought of, but badly implemented. Nevertheless, would watch out for the next upgrade.
