iPhone security tip: Enable restrictions to make sure that your child does not access restricted contents

enable-restrictionAre you sometime concerned that your child might hit the Safari icon on your iPhone and accidentally or intentionally access Internet contents that you don’t want him to see? If your child knows your App Store account password, it’s possible that he might be tempted to purchase applications on his own. You might not like the idea. If you enable the Restriction feature in General Settings page the worry ends then and there.

In the restrictions page you can disable the camera functionality, Installing apps privilege, iTunes, YouTube, Safari and iPod. If your concern is browsing or application purchase privilege, you can selectively disable any of the features. How to do that?

Tap on the Settings>General> and tap on the Enable Restriction tap on top. Select which feature to be disabled.

You’ll need to enter a four digit code two times. This pass code ensures that you alone have the privilege to disable the restriction unless the other person knows the code.

its same like parental controls in MAC?

BTW, there is an alternative to disabling Safari completely. You can setup an alternate kid-safe browser like Mobicip that includes fine grained parental control settings and reports.

I recently bought an Apple I phone 3G 8GB from a friend.
He also doese not know what the old restriction code is. Is it possible to recover the restriction code or break the code. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
