Kindle for iPhone is a trick to promote Kindle e-book reader

Kindle for iPhone, the latest iPhone application from Amazon is a wish come true for many book lovers. Reading convenience has reached a new height with the option to read anywhere anytime on the iPhone. Applications such as Stanza and Classics finally have a competitor in Kindle for iPhone. Some analysts have pointed out that by launching Kindle for iPhone, Amazon has done something that could affect the sales of Kindle e-book reader. This article would unravel what really the launch of Kindle for iPhone means to Amazon; the gain and loss.

kindleWith Kindle for iPhone on either their iPhone or iPod touch, users can now download their favorite digital titles from Amazon’s collection of about 246,000 e-books. Amazon have definitely done something negative if we should assume that all iPod and iPhone owners are avid readers and also feel comfortable reading for a long time on the small screen. If this is the case, sales of Kindle-e-book has reached a dead end. However, this is not the case.

Reading on the iPhone for hours is not very easy, I should admit. You have all the zooming, scrolling features, however, these features do not change the fact that reading is straining on the iPhone or iPod touch. The back-lit screen of the iPhone is another inconvenience if you read on the 3.5 inch iPhone screen. The iPhone is not made to be an e-book reader basically.

If we think about convenience of reading, Kindle is one device made for the sole purpose of reading. It’s not a multi-purpose device for sure. With the iPhone, you can browse, make calls, take pictures and all other handy things on the go Kindle does not have all these features. However, when it comes to the ease of reading, the iPhone is no where near this dedicated reading device. Amazon’s launch of Kindle is a strategy to let users compare and rate the iPhone and it’s e-book reader as reading consoles.

The launch of the application in some way has made the two devices complimentary. If you download a book from Amazon, to read it thoroughly now you’d need a convenient reading device. You are eying for the rather costly Amazon’s e-book reader. Your iPhone actually remains a complimentary device, which would help you continue your reading anywhere from the page you left, not for a long time though.

Reading the full page non back-lit display on the Kindle e book reader involves no straining for readers, thus you can read for hours. So do you think the iPhone would replace the e-book reader? In fact, Amazon has proved the iPhone is nowhere compared to it’s e-reader when it comes to reading.

Thus the launch of Kindle for iPhone has not crippled the sales of Kindle e book reader, but has opened more chances for more sales and also has allowed Amazon to push their 246,000 digital titles to millions of iPhone and iPod users around the world.
