Renew you iPhone app development contract to ensure your applications are not removed
If you sign up for the iPhone app development program back in March, 2008, it’s time for you to renew your contract. In the contracts page, you would see a line that you’ll be notified to renew your contract 90 days prior to the contract expiry date, and that you would be given the option to renew it online.
However, it seems developers whose contracts expire in March, 2009 have not received any notification from Apple, nor the online option to renew made available. Some of the concerned developers approached Apple’s Legal department for direct renewal, but is reported that the move was not successful. Though March, 2009 mark the end of the one year contract, Apple is has not taken any step to speed up the renewal process.

For developers, failure to renew their contracts could likely result in removal of their applications from the App Store. As Apple has not commented anything regarding this delay, there are speculations that the company could be doing some kind of evaluation of applications deployed so far. This could be a move to clean up the App Store, which is famous for hosting useless applications along with the handy ones.
